Benefits Flexible schedule Opportunity for advancement Training & development We are seeking Bambara Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Bambara, a Mande language widely spoken in Mali and across West Africa, is a rare but critical language often needed in asylum and immigration interviews. Responsibilities Provide real-time Bambara-English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders. Interpret accurately, neutrally, and professionally in immigration, asylum, and legal contexts. Adhere to USCIS/DHS interpreter ethics and confidentiality standards. Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation requests. Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews. Qualifications Native or near-native fluency in Bambara and English. 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, community, NGO, or government preferred). Strong knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness. Excellent communication skills and ability to remain accurate under pressure. Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance. Compensation & Benefits Competitive pay: $30–38/hour (rare-language premium).
