Basic Functions Serves as a Butler at the Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) residence to assist DCM's family, personal guests, and for official receptions, dinners, and other functions. Duties include but are not limited to: - Cleans all representational rooms in the house, operating cleaning equipment as appropriate. - Dusts and polishes furniture, cleans ashtrays, and empties wastebaskets. - Maintains all special linens for representational events. - Answers the telephone and offers to take a message. - Cleans representational areas after guests depart residence. - Assists in preparation of dining and serving areas for representational as well as personal events. - Serves food and drinks at official functions as well as at personal meals for the DCM, family and personal guests. - Set tables as directed for the breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and cleans up after meal service. - Shops in local markets for food, flowers, and other items as directed by the Residence Manager. - Conducts errands relating to representational events. - Unload trucks delivering items to the DCM residence that may involve lifting and carrying heavy objects. - Assists in preparing food and drink for the DCM's family, personal guests, and for official receptions, dinners, and other functions. - Works frequently in evenings for representational events; - On occasion, work on weekends for representational events; - Performs other appropriate duties as requested by the DCM Residence Manager/Chef. Qualifications: - Minimum 2 years of work experience as a butler or in a related hospitality work, in the private and/or corporate sector. - Relevant education (e.g., butler school or hospitality/hotel management school). - Professional service skills. - Good knowledge of catering and formal dining etiquette, and housekeeping practices. - Excellent communicational and interpersonal skills. - Top Secret clearance required
