The City of Bowie is seeking a Cloud Data Analyst. The Cloud Data Analyst is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the City's cloud-based data architecture. This role involves overseeing the design and implementation of cloud data solutions, ensuring they meet performance, security, scalability, and cost-efficiency requirements. The Cloud Data Analyst works closely with various departments to understand their data needs and collaborates with IT teams to build and maintain robust cloud data platforms. This position requires deep expertise in cloud technologies, data management, and architecture principles.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the design and architecture of cloud-based data solutions, including migrating existing internal Access databases to the cloud platform, ensuring data integrity, performance, and security during the migration process.
• Oversee the management and optimization of cloud data platforms, ensuring optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Ensure that cloud data solutions adhere to organizational security policies and compliance requirements, implementing best practices for data protection.
• Implement and manage tools for monitoring the performance and reliability of cloud data systems, identifying areas for improvement.
• Design and manage data integration workflows to ensure seamless data flow between various cloud and on-premises systems.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud data architectures, processes, and workflows.
• Stay up to date with the latest cloud technologies and data management trends, recommending new solutions and improvements.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in data architecture or related roles, with a strong focus on cloud environments.
• Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong understanding of data management, database design, and ETL processes.
• Experience with data security best practices and compliance requirements.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills and Certifications
• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and data analytics platforms.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Relevant certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Data Engineer, or Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer.

SALARY: $87,263 Annually
