Location: Commerce PlaceThe Research Department at Cambridge Health Alliance advances the organization’s mission by supporting applied services and clinical research that promote health equity, improved delivery of mental health services to adults, youth and children, and community well-being. The department collaborates with a wide range of partners, including other research labs at CHA, other academic partners, including other Harvard Psychiatry Departments, community organizations, health systems, and public agencies. With multidisciplinary expertise, the individuals in the research department assist in the design, implementation and administration of rigorous, community-informed projects that generate actionable insights and drive positive, data-informed change.
The mission of Division on Addiction (Division) is to alleviate addiction-related social, medical, and economic burdens through research, education, training, and outreach. The Division is housed in CHA’s Department of Psychiatry. Under the leadership of its Director, the Division provides a message of compassion, tolerance, acceptance, and hope, which is reflected in every aspect of its activities. The Division’s research reflects a commitment to challenging stigma and misinformation about addiction, and this work includes groundbreaking psychiatric epidemiological research focusing on addictive behavior. Through its educational activities and outreach and resources, including Continuing Education, faculty development courses, and research collaborations, the Division provides a meaningful voice within the public health and medical communities. Division faculty members have published a large portfolio of scholarly publications that are advancing how the world understands, discusses, and treats addiction.
The Division on Addiction (the Division) seeks a Community Health Educator I to be a thought partner for and key contributor to its professional and community-based capacity building and public health initiatives. Reporting to the Division’s Director of Academic Affairs, this individual will work with an interdisciplinary team of Harvard Medical School faculty and research associates to help build a culture of commitment to health and health equity in the region, with a focus on alleviating harm caused by addiction.
Qualifications -
Education/Training: Bachelor’s Degree
Work Experience: 2 years of related experience requested
Language: Knowledge of a second language (e.g., Spanish, Haitian Creole, Brazilian Portuguese) preferred -
Demonstrated ability to work with people of different races, ethnicities, ages, and abilities
Excellent written and oral communication, including experience developing visually appealing materials and presentations
Understanding of health equity concepts, including racial and social justice
Basic understanding of research methods and statistical analysis strongly preferred
Must be punctual, organized, and detail-oriented, with strong written and verbal communication skills
Reliable transportation required
Knowledge of Google Suite and its applications, preferred
Experience with minor website edits (no coding), a plus
Experience with desktop publishing (e.g., Adobe InDesign), preferred
Excellent internet research skills, a must
