POSITION TITLE

Custodian

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Head of School, we are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team. The Custodian plays a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of our facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring a clean and organized environment for students, staff, and visitors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Cleaning and Sanitizing: Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces in all areas of the facility.

  • Trash Removal: Collect and dispose of trash and recycling materials in accordance with established procedures.

  • Restroom Maintenance: Clean and disinfect restroom facilities, replenish supplies, and ensure they are well-maintained and stocked.

  • Floor Care: Care for various types of flooring, including carpet, tile, and hardwood, through vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping.

  • Window and Glass Cleaning: Clean windows, glass doors, and other glass surfaces to maintain a clean and presentable appearance.

  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and power washers.

  • Security: Ensure all doors, windows, and gates are securely locked and monitored during and after working hours.

  • Maintenance Reporting: Report any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisor to ensure a safe and functional environment.

  • Inventory Management: Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request replenishment as needed.

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines, including the safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.

  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous custodial or janitorial experience is a plus but not required.

  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and bending, and standing for extended periods.

  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, equipment usage, and safety protocols.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and order.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong time management skills to efficiently complete tasks within designated timeframes.

  • Dependability and strong work ethic.
