What We’re Looking For:

Cloud9 is looking for a talented and driven Data Science Intern to work closely with our Technology team to support the League of Legends LTA team on performance data analytics and the Technology department for business intelligence applications. The Data Science Intern will help automate and validate any of the manual processes around data collection for League of Legends data. The Data Science Intern will help automate and integrate AI into content creation, sales, partnerships, and social media workloads.

The ideal candidate must have completed at least 3 years of college/university level education (or equivalent) for Computer Science or a related field, and have a passion for competitive esports. The Data Science Intern will report to the Software Engineer. 

This hybrid internship opportunity will begin on 6/16/2025 and conclude on 8/22/2025.

What You’ll Do:

• Assist in automating and validating any of the manual processes around data collection for League of Legends data, such as scrim, esports, and competitive/solo queue data.
• Help with developing the infrastructure and processes to support data analysis.
• Develop new dashboards with specific game metrics for the coaches and players to utilize.
• Automate manual processes, and the integration of AI into content creation, sales, partnerships, and social media workloads.
• Manage close working relationships with coaches, staff, and players, and be available to answer questions using strategic data.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Completed at least 3 years of college/university level education (or equivalent) for Computer Science or related field
• Must be local to Los Angeles
• Must be available to work in the office for a minimum of three days per week. 
• Ability to commute to our Los Angeles office and nearby locations
• Able to legally work in the U.S. without sponsorship
• Intermediate proficiency in:
• Programming languages commonly used for web development: Javascript or Typescript, HTML
• Programming languages used for data science: Python
• Familiarity with: 
• AI Concepts, Data Science, Modeling, Mathematical and Statistical reasoning
• Version control using Git
• Coding best practices
• League of Legends ecosystem (players, teams, leagues, tournaments)
• League of Legends gameplay
• League of Legends statistics
• Ability to work independently and remotely
• High attention to detail
• Active listening skills with an emphasis on understanding—the artful ability to deliver clear and logical thoughts in response
• Applying intelligence to practical, real-world scenarios, where a “book solution” doesn’t necessarily exist. The ability to solve problems, in a timely manner, with an incomplete picture
• Capability of adjusting behavior and actions according to what the situation requires
• An adherence to not only what is legal but also what is right, especially when no one is looking
• Confidence in your own ability while recognizing the views and perspectives around you as additive to your understanding

The compensation for this internship is $25.00 per hour.
