Overview This role will serve as a Director in the Technology Governance Office, primarily leading the response and remediation activities for GTA U.S. related to regulatory, audit and self-identified issues. This person will serve as a Technology Partner for the U.S. Regulatory Relations, U.S. Operational Risk Group, Compliance and other U.S. control functions, supporting IT regulatory/audit exams and issue management remediation across the U.S.
In addition, this role oversees the technology policy management and department reporting (e.g., management committees and Board).
Contribute to the overall success of Technology for Global Banking and Markets by ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.
Ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
What You'll Do - Advises IT management on requirements for remediation to comply with regulatory obligations. Assists IT teams in adhering to policies, frameworks, standards and guidelines through active engagement, guidance and counseling.
- Acts as the primary point of contact for the CIO with respect to internal and external audits (e.g., request oversight, external meeting preparation, drafting management action plans, tracking remediation action plans and mitigation of regulatory risk).
- Draft and review regulatory responses; provide oversight, feedback, and guidance to IT teams on response approach, language and potential gaps. Set internal deadlines and ensure timely response. Escalation and challenge to management where responses are lacking or late.
- Maintain historical response documentation. Leverage prior responses to enable improvement year over year.
- Standardize technology communication, documentation, memos and senior business line communications across U.S. Technology workstreams for regulatory issue remediation.
- Ensure governance is in place during meetings pertaining to regulatory issues and that decisions are properly minuted (e.g., exam kick off, external meetings, audit walk throughs, regulatory governance forums). Oversee staff leading various governance forums. Escalate risks as necessary.
- Review action plans for key regulatory risks and issues for quality assurance. Identify evidence required for issue closure. Lead workstreams related to maintaining appropriate documentation and evidence throughout IT remediation efforts.
- Attend exam and continuous monitoring meetings with external regulators and internal audit acting as a representative for U.S. head of IT.
- Responsible for monthly reporting on status of remediation for all issues to senior stakeholders including twice monthly Pulse meetings. Review issue closure packages for completeness and accuracy. Facilitate closure package submission to issue identifiers.
- Collaborate with directors of IT, IT Risk, Operational Risk and Internal Audit to manage team commitments and maintain annual calendar of requests for information.
- Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Build a high-performance environment and provide ongoing coaching and guidance to less experienced Regulatory Technology employees to ensure consistent handling and review of audit and regulatory requests, issue remediation and governance.
What You'll Bring - Candidates should have comprehensive knowledge or experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Regulatory (e.g., FFIEC Guidelines, NYS DFS, FRB NY, FINRA)
- Technology (e.g., IT Asset Management, Software Currency, Cybersecurity scanning)
- Issue Management (e.g., execution tracking, risk evaluation, escalation, reporting)
- Audit or Exam Management (e.g., governance, audit, control functions, compliance, risk management)
- Prior experience with U.S IT Regulatory exams and remediation execution in a financial institution
- Excellent judgment and organizational skills
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and work simultaneously on various tasks, independently and to completion
- Attentive to detail
