Job Description

We are seeking a Clinical Pharmacist Emergency Department (ED) for a night shift, full-time, direct hire position at a respected Level III Trauma Center in Amarillo, TX. This role offers an exciting opportunity to practice in a fast-paced environment while making a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.

Schedule: 10-hour night shifts with rotating weekends.

Location: Amarillo, TX (relocation assistance).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct pharmaceutical care to patients in the emergency department.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and healthcare providers to optimize treatment plans.

  • Support rapid assessment and management of critically ill patients, including trauma and resuscitation.

  • Participate in emergency response situations (stroke alerts, cardiac arrests, sepsis protocols).

  • Perform medication reconciliation, drug therapy reviews, and evidence-based recommendations.

  • Prepare and dispense medications in compliance with hospital protocols and regulations.

  • Educate patients and healthcare professionals on safe and effective medication use.

  • Monitor for adverse drug reactions and medication errors, implementing corrective measures.

  • Contribute to quality improvement projects and research related to emergency medicine pharmacy.

  • Precept pharmacy students and residents; supervise medication history technicians.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. or Pharm.D. from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy.

  • Active Texas Pharmacist license in good standing.

  • Sterile compounding competency per state requirements.

  • BLS, ALS, and PALS certifications (required within 90 days of hire).

Preferred/Ideal Qualifications:

  • Completion of a PGY2 residency in emergency medicine or critical care.

  • PGY1 residency with substantial ED/critical care experience.

  • Equivalent experience practicing in an emergency department or critical care setting.
