Summary
You will serve as a
ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the
COMBAT SYSTEMS TEST BRANCH (ORG CODE 295), CHIEF ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties Help
\n - You will act as the San Diego Detachment Combat Systems Waterfront Coordinator.
\n - You will assist the Chief Test Engineer (CTE-W) and Assistant Chief Test Engineer (ACTE-W) with the scheduling and technical control of a test program on the submarines.
\n - You will resolve emergent problems that may delay project completion.
\n - You will plan and execute assignments and projects to meet overall objectives.
\n - You will ensure the timeliness and cost effectiveness of the work performed.

\n - You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
\n - Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
\n - This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
\n - This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
\n - Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
\n - This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications GS-12 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the
GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
\n - Experience providing expertise for major mechanical, electrical, or structural engineering projects associated with the functional design, performance of various types of submarine weapon systems and components.
\n - Experience directing the planning, installation, and testing of equipment and systems involved during a ship's overhaul period.
\n - Experience preparing and reviewing correspondence, such as Job Summaries, Task Group Instruments (TGI's), Deficiency.
\n - Deficiency Logs (DL's) Deficiency Reports (DR's), technical reports, estimates, status reports, instructions, and procedures.
\n - Experience managing Waterfront Trouble-desk and experience in negotiating projects with managers and ship force support to gain approval and testing authority.
