Job Description
Overseeing all operations of a poultry farm, a Poultry Farm Manager ensures optimal bird health, supervises staff, and maintains equipment. Key tasks include managing feed supply, monitoring egg production, and ensuring compliance with animal welfare standards.
Responsibilities: - Manage and oversee the daily operations of the poultry farm
- Ensure that all aspects of the farm are running efficiently and effectively
- Hire, train, and supervise farm employees
- Monitor and maintain the health and well-being of the poultry
- Develop and implement protocols for biosecurity, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability
- Manage the budget and financial performance of the farm
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
- Collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to maintain the farm's operations and profitability
Requirements: - Knowledge of poultry farming practices and procedures, including breeding, rearing, and disease management
- Experience in managing a poultry farm, including record-keeping, budgeting, and staff management
- Ability to identify and solve problems related to poultry farming, such as disease outbreaks, feed shortages, and equipment malfunctions
- Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with staff, suppliers, and customers
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks such as lifting heavy objects, cleaning facilities, and handling live birds
- Knowledge of and adherence to industry regulations and standards related to animal welfare, food safety, and environmental impact
- Familiarity with technology and software used in poultry farming, such as automated feeders, climate control systems, and data management software
- Willingness to work flexible hours and be on call for emergencies, including weekends and holidays
