Job Description
Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Fire Alarm System Designer to join the Fire Protection Design team in Austin, Texas. The Gigafactory design team drives to create the factory of the future by overseeing the design of cutting-edge large-scale equipment and utility systems in support of highly innovative manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities - Work with the Fire Protection Engineer to prepare project fire alarm specifications
- Produce code compliant fire detection and alarm system design drawings and submittal packages within the limits of design philosophy, specifications, costs, and schedule using Revit
- Collaborate with other design disciplines, construction management teams, external consultants, contractors, fabricators, regulatory agencies, and other vendors to meet overall project objectives
- Produce floor plans, one-line diagrams, riser diagrams, and details
- Participate in all project phases, including conceptual designs, presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documents and production
- Perform regular field installation reviews and document deficiencies with corrective action
- Incorporate as-built drawings into record documents and verify code compliance
Requirements - Degree in Drafting Technology or related field with a minimum 4 years of experience with Revit preferred, or industry equivalent experience with minimum 5 years of experience in design/drafting fire detection and alarm systems.
- NICET Level III or IV certification for fire detection and alarm systems
- Proficiency in 2D/3D software, such as Auto CAD, Revit, Navisworks and Revizto
- Clear understanding and working knowledge of International Building Code, International Fire Code, International Mechanical Code and applicable NFPA standards (NFPA 70, NFPA72 are required; understanding of additional applicable codes are a plus)
- Detailed understanding of fire alarm system components, system architecture, and configuration required
- Ability to read and review drawings from and coordinate with other disciplines to avoid clashes and ensure systems are installed in accordance with all applicable codes
- Fire alarm license or ability to obtain required licenses, APS and EPL
