Job Description

This Freight Forwarding Branch Manager will primarily oversee the Import and Export Operations at the Monterey Park, CA branch and ensures compliance with U.S. and foreign government laws and regulations. Customs Broker license required for this position. Location: Monterey Park, CA Pay Ranger: $115k-114k Job type: Full-time, on-site Schedule: M-F; 8am-5pm Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Will have knowledge of all aspects of the Freight Forwarding industry
• Will be responsible for the overall direction and performance of the office
• Working closely with Senior Management, the Branch Manager will be responsible for the financial results of the branch
• Coaching, managing and mentoring staff are key responsibilities
• Classify commodities for importation and provide advisory tariff numbers to external customers when required
• Guide customers through Customs requirements and processes by preparing and submitting documents, determining tariff and duty payments, and navigating regulatory requirements
• Knowledge of state, federal and international applicable laws and regulations as they relate to primary services provided (i.e. Customs, Security, other import & export government agencies)
• Ensure all government (U.S. and other) required forms and information is compliant and properly submitted to the required agency
• Resolve customer problems accurately and professionally
• Help importers understand and meet the rules and regulations established by the federal government
• Educate customers about Customs regulations, international tariffs, shipping restrictions and insurance requirements
• Work closely with other departments including sales to pursue new sales leads, discuss, and sell various services with current clients
• Process post entry work including ruling requests, CF 28's, PSCs, protests, and drawbacks
• Provide written and oral instructions to direct reports; assign duties and review work for accuracy and conformance to the Company's policies and procedures
• Meeting established procedures and productivity, safety and quality standards
• Work closely with the HR Department concerning recruitment, hiring, corrective action process and annual performance review process
• Working closely with customers, colleagues and third parties to ensure smooth operation to meet deadlines

Requirements: •Minimum of 5 years' experience in Freight Forwarding, handling imports and brokerage

• Minimum 5 years' managing / supervising others
• Holds an active U.S. Customs Broker License - required for position
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as business needs dictate
• Available to work flexible hours and over time depending on business needs
• Approximately up to 25% travel required
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial spreadsheets (i.e. complex data)
• Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints in a timely manner
• Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to the board and outsiders
