Job Description

Overview The Nightingale-Bamford School seeks an enthusiastic and creative health educator to join our K-12 health department as a leave replacement teacher for the Spring Semester of the 2025-26 School year, starting January 5, 2026 through June 12, 2026. Prospective candidates should be passionate about designing and delivering inclusive and current health curricula to Lower and Upper School students. We are seeking someone who values relationship-centered health education while promoting well-being community-wide. The candidate must demonstrate a strong interest in and understanding of child development, possess excellent oral and written communication skills, take initiative, and display an innovative spirit. Finally, the candidate must be fluent in the use of technology and well-versed in classroom management techniques and a variety of assessment methods. This is a full-time, exempt position and reports to the Assistant Head of School for Academic Affairs. Responsibilities Teach health education classes across lower (K-4) and upper (9-12) school divisions. Design engaging, relevant, and skills-based lessons across health topics. Incorporate principles of mindfulness in the classroom. Collaborate with health department members, division leadership, advisors, and other professional community members to promote student well-being. Attend all relevant division and department meetings. Take on additional assigned school duties (e.g., supervise study or lunch, etc.). Required Qualifications Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Health Education. Experience in teaching health education in a K-12 setting. Experience in designing comprehensive health curriculum. A sense of humor and appreciation for this trait in others. Salary In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annualized base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000. Nightingale considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, teaching time, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
