Manufacturing Engineer

Manufacturing Engineer needed for a large automotive manufacturing facility located 30 minutes outside Knoxville, TN. This is a Direct Hire opportunity and offers an excellent benefits package including Health, Life, Dental, Vision and paid time off.

Job Description:

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer skilled in designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. The role involves collaboration with various teams to address process issues and drive continuous improvement. Responsibilities include supporting product costing, capital planning, quality planning, and Kaizen initiatives. You will work on fixture design, gauge and tool ordering, equipment specifications, supplier evaluation, and ensure on-time project implementation. Additionally, the position requires creating and modifying process documentation, check sheets, and standards as needed.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

• Process Design and Optimization: Develop and refine manufacturing processes for efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Pre-production and Prototype Support: Facilitate the timely production of component samples.
• Data Analysis: Analyze process data to identify trends, deviations, and improvement opportunities.
• Machine Capability Studies: Conduct studies and implement countermeasures to meet performance targets.
• Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues effectively.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and maintenance.
• Fixture and Tool Design: Design and create detailed drawings for fixtures, tooling, and gauging.
• Flexible Work Hours: Work overtime and/or weekends as necessary to complete project tasks.
• Additional Duties: Perform other assigned tasks as needed.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficient in CNC programming on Fanuc, Mazak, and Brother controls.
• Proven CAD experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
• Basic understanding of PLC logic controls.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and circuitry systems.
• Strong understanding of tool cutting geometry.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
• Enjoys challenges and adheres to planned deadlines and project timelines.
• Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools.
• Project management experience.
• Familiarity with applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems.

Education, Training & Certifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering.

- 5 years or more of experience in metal removal and/or close tolerance assembly manufacturing.
