Position: Principal Network Engineer

We are seeking a Principal Network Engineer to join a dynamic and forward-thinking team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing complex network infrastructures that align with the client's business objectives. Your expertise will be instrumental in optimizing network performance and maintaining robust security measures.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Network Management: Design, configure, and maintain LAN, WAN, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, and related hardware.
  • Security: Implement and manage security measures such as firewalls, anti-virus systems, and intrusion detection systems. Proactively monitor for breaches and respond to incidents.
  • Performance Monitoring: Continuously track network performance, troubleshoot issues and outages, schedule updates, and collaborate with network architects on optimization efforts.
  • Technical Support: Provide advanced-level support and technical expertise in networking technologies, including hardware, hubs, bridges, and routers.
  • Disaster Recovery: Develop and execute disaster recovery strategies. Ensure backups are functioning regularly and adequately test recovery plans.
  • Policy Development: Contribute to the creation and upkeep of network documentation, policies, and operational procedures.
  • Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors, negotiating for optimal products and services.
  • Training & Guidance: Mentor junior network administrators and support staff, providing training on new hardware and software.
  • Research & Development: Stay informed on emerging technologies and best practices, recommending infrastructure enhancements to support growth.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a network administration role, with at least 2 years in a senior-level capacity.
  • In-depth knowledge of network services, architecture, and security protocols.
  • Proficiency with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools.
  • Hands-on experience with firewalls, Internet VPNs, remote implementation, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure and associated hardware.
  • Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices and systems.
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
  • Capability to produce accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning purposes.
  • Professional certifications such as CCNP , CCIE , or equivalent are highly desirable.
