Job Summary:

The Physical Therapy Aide provides essential non-clinical support to the licensed Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants. The aide is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe treatment environment, preparing patients and equipment for therapy sessions, and performing various administrative and operational tasks to ensure the efficient flow of the clinic.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient and Treatment Area Support (under direct supervision):

  • Prepare treatment areas by setting up necessary equipment, such as heat packs, ice packs, exercise machines, and modalities.

  • Clean and sanitize treatment tables, equipment, and therapy areas before and after each patient use, ensuring strict adherence to infection control protocols.

  • Assist patients with transfers, including moving to or from treatment areas, on or off treatment tables, and assisting with walking (gait) as directed by the therapist.

  • Monitor patients during non-skilled exercises (e.g., stationary bike, treadmill) and immediately report any changes in status, concerns, or adverse reactions to the supervising therapist.

  • Change linens, fold laundry, and manage supply stock for clinical use.

Administrative and Operational Support:

  • Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments

  • Assist with patient intake tasks, including greeting patients and ensuring all necessary forms are completed.

Qualifications and Skills:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and professional demeanor.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions precisely and efficiently.

  • Physical ability to perform tasks requiring standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting/moving up to [e.g., 50 pounds] safely, often with assistance.

Preferred (Optional):

  • Previous experience in a healthcare, physical therapy, or customer service setting.

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and anatomy.

  • Proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
