Job Description
The Public Relations Manager reports directly to the Senior Director of Communications and will work with digital, social media, and multimedia personnel as well. Summary of Duties and Responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to:
· Manage the development and implementation of multi-platform public relations strategy for AAU
· Implement public relation and social media plans to promote the AAU brand in the media, at events
and other related activities
· Write copy for press releases, website, social media, and other communication materials
· Develop and maintain external communications (newsletter, press releases, social media)
· Analyze and measure results of PR, social media and marketing efforts
· Identify and act on opportunities to promote AAU, increase exposure and educate the community on
issues related to the AAU
· Assist with promotion, advertising and overall AAU marketing initiatives
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, communications, social media, marketing or public
relations, related field required
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience required
• Strong writing, proofreading and editing skills a must
• Experience with drafting and distributing press releases a plus
• Experience with social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube a plus
• Experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) a plus
• Knowledge of sports, especially the youth sports industry, a must
• Knowledge of video editing software such as Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere a plus
• Knowledge of photography a plus
• Must be able to successfully pass an AAU background screening
