Job Description and Duties

Under direct supervision of the Area Commander, Public Safety Dispatch Supervisor I provides direct supervision for public safety dispatchers, and are responsible for planning, organizing and assigning work to communciations center personnel. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to; working a variety of shifts, holidays and weekends; preparing annual evaluations, monthly 100 forms, citizen's complaints, hiring, training, scheduling, written work related to personnel and operations of the center and other peripheral duties as assigned.

Special Requirements

This position requires the ability to type at a minimum speed designated on the Classification Specifications (link available in the minimum requirements section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests:

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified before appointment. To satisfy the minimum qualification requirement with education, you must include your unofficial transcript(s)/diploma for initial review. Original diplomas or official, sealed transcripts will be required before the start date. Applicants with foreign transcript(s)/degree(s) must provide a third-party transcript/degree credential evaluation that indicates the number of units to which the foreign coursework is equivalent.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Ability to prepare staff work, supervise or personally perform as necessary normal and or difficult dispatch duties. Provide leadership and support team buidling efforts. Should have effective time management skills and above average interpersonal skills.
