We were founded in 2017 by one of the world's leading cardiologists and are a growing team of world-class engineering, operations, medical affairs, marketing, and sales leaders. Most of our teams work remotely and have access to our offices in Denver, Colorado, New, York, New York, Dallas, Texas, and Lisbon, Portugal with some roles requiring you to be on-site in a location.

Cleerly has created a new standard of care for heart disease through value-based, AI-driven precision diagnostic solutions with the goal of helping prevent heart attacks. Our technology goes beyond traditional measures of heart disease by enabling comprehensive quantification and characterization of atherosclerosis, or plaque buildup, in each of the heart arteries. Cleerly's solutions are supported by more than a decade of performing some of the world's largest clinical trials to identify important findings beyond symptoms that increase a person's risk of heart attacks.

At Cleerly, we collaborate digitally and use a wide variety of systems. Our people use Google Workspace (GMail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides), Slack, Confluence/Jira, and Zoom Video, prior experience in these areas is a plus. Role or department specific technology needs may vary and will be listed as requirements in the job description.

While we are mostly a remote company, travel is required for some team meetings and cross function projects typically once per month or once per quarter, for some roles like sales or external facing roles travel could be up to 90% of the time.

About the Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Backend Software Engineer with a passion for scaling SaaS applications to join our growing software development team. Our engineers work closely with product managers, program managers and data scientists to build exciting new features that support the next generation of heart disease diagnosis.

Responsibilities

You'll contribute to all facets of the Cleerly platform, focusing on scale, performance, and reliability. You'll work with our engineers, data science team, and a variety of inter-departmental stakeholders to improve our core product experiences. We're focused on enhancing our ability to execute complex algorithms at scale and bring enterprise workflows for healthcare to life. On any given day, you could be doing one of the following:

• Work closely with AI team and regulatory team to build and maintain new clinical products
• Build performant, accessible, and user-friendly interfaces with modern UI frameworks.
• Develop and extend scalable APIs and backend services that support clinical features
• Implement scalable solutions to complex business rules with care to drive precision heart care
• Write testable, observable, and maintainable code that meets our performance and quality standards
• Participate in system design reviews and propose practical, scalable improvements
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teammates to deliver reliable solutions
• Contribute to documentation, code reviews, and shared engineering standards.
• Participate in on-call rotations and assist with triaging production issues

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated foundation of agile, secure software development methodologies and be motivated and dedicated to the goal of providing a safe, high-quality product that is used to diagnose and treat patients in the real world.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 4+ years of software development experience
• Proficiency in React, Node.js, TypeScript, Python and UI frameworks such as ant design
• Ability to apply and implement best practice design patterns for code maintainability
• Demonstrable capability designing, implementing, and securing RESTful web services
• Strong SQL developer skills including experience in PostgreSQL, NoSQL, DynamoDB, Redis or similar
• Experience with AWS services, GitHub and continuous integration pipelines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Impress us more

• Experience in digital health, specifically with medical devices or medical imaging
• Experience with frontend performance tuning, and data intensive 2D/3D rendering with WebGL, WebAssembly, WebWorker, etc.
• Familiarity with HIPAA/HITRUST security requirements

TTC: $159,000 - $181,000

*Total Target Compensation (TTC): Total Cash Compensation (including base pay, variable pay, commission, bonuses, etc.).

Each role at Cleerly has a defined salary range based on market data and company stage. We typically hire at the lower to mid-point of the range, with the top end reserved for internal growth and exceptional performance. Actual pay depends on factors like experience, technical depth, geographic location, and alignment with internal peers.
