Position: Web Developer

Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid – 1 day remote per week)

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Your Role

As a Web Developer, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining state-of-the-art video players for web browsers, smart TVs, and mobile platforms. Collaborating with diverse teams, you will build scalable, innovative frontend solutions that enhance the streaming experience for audiences across the globe.

Key Responsibilities

• Frontend Development: Develop advanced video player solutions for web browsers, smart TVs (e.g., TizenOS, WebOS, Roku OS), and mobile browsers.
• Feature Planning: Estimate, prototype, and implement new video player features and enhancements.
• PWA Development: Design and develop Progressive Web Applications (PWAs) for improved user engagement.
• Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable code in a shared repository.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams on feature implementation and design.
• Technology Integration: Research and integrate emerging technologies to improve frontend capabilities.
• Requirements Management: Analyze and clarify project requirements for successful execution.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

• Experience: 5+ years in web development, specializing in frameworks supporting multiple UI templates, styles, and brand customizations.
• Video Player Expertise: Proven track record with OTT video applications on web platforms.
• Plugin Development: Experience in creating plugin frameworks for adaptable, pluggable components.
• Code Maintenance: Strong ability to maintain and enhance existing software solutions.
• Industry Knowledge: Awareness of web application and smart TV app development trends.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Technical Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Languages & Frameworks: Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Modern Libraries: Experience with Vue.js, React, or Angular.
• Video Player Technology: Strong knowledge of HLS, DASH, and related streaming technologies.
• API Integration: Familiarity with RESTful APIs, JSON, and video player functionality.
• DevOps Tools: Experience with CI/CD tools like Git and Jenkins.
• Agile Methodologies: Proficiency in Agile workflows such as Scrum and Kanban.
• PWA Development: Expertise in building and optimizing Progressive Web Applications (PWAs).

Nice-to-Have Skills & Experience

• SaaS Experience: Background in SaaS platforms or live/VOD streaming products.
• Cross-Platform Development: Familiarity with smart TV platforms (TizenOS, WebOS, Roku OS) and mobile browsers.
• Kotlin Development: Proficiency in Kotlin and Kotlin Multiplatform frameworks.
• Multimedia Protocols: Understanding of RTP, RTMP, SRT, UDP, and HLS/DASH.
• Security Standards: Knowledge of encryption protocols (SHA, AES, RSA) and DRM systems (PlayReady, Widevine, FairPlay).
