Job Description

THE ROLE: Chief People Officer Reporting to the CEO, the Chief People Officer will oversee all aspects of human resources, culture and facilities for the VMS Co-Op and be a valuable member of the Leadership Team. This role is responsible for bringing a people-centric, values-based, growth-oriented approach to our people strategies to ensure that our business and each Operating Company has the unique culture, identity and capabilities needed to scale. This is a hands-on role and will require support in execution in addition to strategic leadership. The Chief People Officer will think outside the box and provide solutions to quickly solve challenges that arise in a fast paced environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and execute people strategies that support the mission, vision, and values of the VMS Co-Op, OLLY and SmartyPants. Provide strategic partnership and coaching to fellow LT members to ensure our team is effective, collaborative and living the values. Anticipate organizational development needs and support teams through the changes. Define and implement talent management to attract and retain rock star talent and deliver meaningful feedback and growth experiences across the business. Build best-in-class people programs in recruiting, onboarding and learning + development. Define compensation philosophy, strategy and total rewards within the governance established by the Wellbeing Collective and Unilever. Lead annual compensation and external salary benchmarking and provide tools and guidance for effective compensation discussions. Manage shared Wellbeing Collective HRIS, payroll, benefits, analytics and related HR tech. Influence administration and service levels for VMS to ensure best employee experience and rewards. Partner with Accounting team on payroll administration. Oversee headcount/people budget and manage all P+C related costs. Lead Camp OLLY office operations and lease management and provide input as needed for the LA Hub. Enable a hybrid work environment for VMS that puts people and connection first. Hire, lead and develop a talented People + Culture team and help grow it into an organization that will accelerate VMS’s growth. Collaborate with the LT to build the Social Mission strategy, workplace mental health strategy, and Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion initiatives and deliver positive and effective programs in line with our values. Partner with Unilever and the Wellbeing Collective P+C team to identify and implement programs that support the operating companies’ shared goals.

CAPABILITIES + SKILLS REQUIRED

15-20 years of experience in leading the People/HR function in a fast-growing, values-driven company; CPG experience preferred. Ability to build and implement talent management and compensation programs that attract and retain key talent and scale with the business; especially skilled at organizational design and capability building. Strong experience managing people operations, HR systems and benefits. Proven track record of successful systems implementations. Deep knowledge of US HR practices, labor laws, and regulations. Superior communication skills and interpersonal skills. Empathetic and inspiring leadership style, experience managing and building effective teams. Effective relationship building skills with proven capability to influence and drive change. A true team player who can work cross-functionally to achieve results.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE INTERVIEW PROCESS

Initial video screen with a member of our Talent team. Round 1: Conversation with the Hiring Manager + 1-2 conversations with other Ollies on the team. Round 2: 2-3 conversations with team or cross functional Ollies. Final Round: Homework* *At OLLY, our final round is called Homework. THE DETAILS

LOCATION: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid - Tuesdays in office / 4 days WFH) HOURS: Full-time, Exempt TRAVEL: 10-20%, monthly travel to SmartyPants Vitamins (Los Angeles, CA) and 2-4x per year travel for offsites. MANAGER: Chief Executive Officer PLEASE NOTE: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. The pay range for this position is $270,000 – 330,000 dependent on experience and location.
