Job Summary

Responsible for screening self?pay patients at hospital bedside for eligibility in various governmental and non?governmental programs. Identify all potential payors (auto insurance, Workers Compensation, commercial insurance, private insurance, TPL, etc.) and route accounts appropriately in the patient accounting environment. Obtain and complete the Confidential Financial Statement form and assist patients in applying for any benefits for which they may be eligible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Conduct interviews with patients and/or family members.
  • Record and maintain complete documentation of activities performed on account while in?house and during the accounting cycle.
  • Perform financial clearance, including collections. Cancel accounts that have no patient cooperation and that are not eligible for any programs, and prepare accounts for financial assistance review.
  • Follow up on EES?assigned accounts to ensure follow?through on government applications submitted.
  • Develop a working relationship with patients, based on good communication skills, enabling accounts to be processed quickly with government program eligibility.
  • Conduct field visits to patient homes for skip tracing and assist patients with documents.
  • Notify hospital case management, social services, and admissions staff of case screening determinations and outcomes via verbal and written communication.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working familiarity with rules and regulations pertaining to federal, state, and county programs.
  • Computer proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented, with strengths in dealing with multiple facilities, supervisors, and hospital platforms.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Bi?lingual preferred (Spanish).


Education / Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in social services, hospital admitting, or related area.


Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer terminal for extended periods.
  • Must be able to walk through a hospital environment, including broad campus settings and emergency department, and visit patients at bedside.
  • Ability to travel if required.


Work Environment
  • Hospital and office facilities, in direct contact with patients and staff.
  • Some travel may be required.

Compensation


  • Pay: $20.71$30.94 per hour.
  • Shift differentials of $1.00$2.50 per hour may be available depending on the shift worked.
  • Conifer observed holidays receive time and a half.
