Mills Marine and Ship Repair, LLC (Mills Marine) is currently seeking an individual to support Touch Labor at Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY).
\nClearance Requirement:
\nMust be a US citizen with a DOD final Secret security clearance.
\nEssential Functions and Responsibilities:
\n1. Have the ability to read and interpret and apply blueprints.
\n2. Have the ability to perform shop mathematical calculations involving geometry to lay out angles, arcs and circles.
\n3. Be capable of inspecting, testing and removing, installed piping and associate valves, hardware and hangers.
\n4. Have knowledge of how equipment and systems are installed and operated as well as the ability to plan work, layout and modify or repair new and/or existing valves and piping
\n5. Have knowledge of brazing procedures and how various metals and alloys of steel, high-strength alloy steels, aluminum, cast iron, nickel, monel, brass, copper, bronze react to different brazing processes and techniques.
\n6. Shall be capable of installing, repairing or modifying high- and low-pressure water, steam, gas, oil, or other high- and low-pressure pipes or fitting.
\n7. Shall be possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to fabricate and assemble various piping systems (P-1, P-2, & P-3 as defined in S9074-ARGIB-010/278) of differing metal which includes cutting, bending, shaping, alignment, and mounting of piping systems on U.S. Naval Surface Ships and Submarines.
\n8. Shall be trained and qualified to the workmanship requirements for piping installation and fit up as prescribed in Welded Joint Design (MIL-STD 22D), Requirements for Fabrication Welding and Inspection, and Casting Inspection and repair for Machinery, Piping and Pressure Vessels {S9074-AR-GIB-010/278), NAVSEA Standard Item 009-12, and NSTM Chapter 505.
\n9. Prior to starting work, personnel shall be required to demonstrate proficiency by performing the following tasks under government supervision:
\nEducation:
\nThe Marine Electrician position requires a minimum of a high school diploma and/or successful completion of a related trade or industrial school.
\nExperience:
\nThe Marine Pipefitter position requires a minimum of four (4) years of verifiable experience in heavy industrial applications i.e., commercial vessels or nuclear power plants, which shall include a minimum of two (2) years’ work experience on U.S. Navy ships/vessels.
\nTrade Training:
\nCompleted a formal course of study in the assigned trade through either a community college, technical or trade school, military training, formal company training program or an apprentice program.
\nMust be trained in typical trade-related precision measurement instruments, such as micrometers, depth gauges and calipers while performing close tolerance work.
\nTrade Specific Technical Standards: MIL-STD-22D, S9074-AR-GIB-010/278, NAVSEA Standard Item 009-12, NSTM chapter 505
\nRequired Trade Training: Assembly & Inspection of Flareless Fittings, Flange Joint Makeup, Union Joint Makeup, Hanger Installation, Precision Measurement Instruments and Torque Wrench Usage
\nTrade Skills:
\n1. Capable and knowledgeable of troubleshooting/testing various electrical, systems, circuits, controls, instruments and equipment, onboard Navy ships/vessels to include submarines and/or ship's components and able to document test requirements.
\n2. Knowledge and ability to proficiently use various types of electrical and electronic measuring devices that include voltmeters, amp meters, ohmmeters, power analyzers, as well as possess the ability and knowledge to disconnect /reconnect and perform Initial Voltage Verification of electrical equipment.
\n3. Working knowledge of electrical trade mathematics and formulas in order to calculate voltage, amperes and resistance requirements and to determine size and types of material, including controls, switches, distribution panels, fuses, cable and conduit size when determining appropriate power source.
\n4.
