Job Description

Job Summary: Client is seeking up to two (2) senior-level Power BI/SQL Developers to collaborate with the Data Office, Business, IT, and other stakeholders as part of the Data Quality Enhancement initiative. This role requires strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, comfortable with prioritizing tasks and managing their workload effectively. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Power BI/SQL support, development, and performance optimization.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all business data and comply with client data security policies.
  • Meet deliverables within agreed timeframes and provide regular status updates.
  • Develop, design, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards based on business requirements.
  • Create interactive visualizations, reports, and dashboards to monitor Critical Data Elements.
  • Advise on best practices for data visualization and report optimization.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into actionable reports.
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain SQL queries and stored procedures for data retrieval and manipulation.
  • Develop DAX queries to enhance performance and report functionality.
  • Create reports supporting KPIs and performance indicators.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI and SQL tools.
  • Review and enhance SQL Queries, Execution Plans, Partitions, and Indexes for performance improvements.
  • Offer alternative data manipulation techniques to streamline data preparation.
  • Participate in special projects as directed by the Chief Operating Officer or Data Officer.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience developing reports and data visualizations using Power BI.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in SQL Server development, including complex queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
  • Experience writing complex DAX queries.
  • Proficiency in MS SQL Server data modeling and schema design.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in technology or data organizations required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Pensions Benefit Management programs.
  • Familiarity with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, QlikView).
  • Knowledge of programming languages like Python or R.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
  • Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or equivalent certification.
  • Other relevant certifications in SQL, Data Analysis, or database management.
