About

The Freight Forwarding Coordinator, Customer Service has high visibility, is the primary contact for designated customers, and responsible for the outcome of assigned projects including customer service, tracking, routing, problem resolution, vendor compliance and customer interaction. Reports directly to Lead or Supervisor of Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of shipment process, including rate quotes, bookings, documentation, billing for Export / import shipments.
  • Completion of AES Filing.
  • Communication with overseas’ agents to obtain rates, decipher pricing and quote customers on import routing.
  • Communication with Airlines for Inbound Cargo to obtain full release of goods.
  • Schedule and coordinate both Domestic and International freight forwarder transactions.
  • Identify and review documents to ensure required documents are received.
  • Notify customer of missing documentation.
  • Obtain arrival information from carriers via their offices or websites.
  • Coordinate carrier release by submitting required bills of lading and freight payments.
  • Prepare trucker or carrier delivery orders for pickup at the port or warehouse.
  • Coordinate and prepare entry summary as needed for customs clearance.
  • Send releases to carriers facility (when required)
  • Communicate shipment status to customers via phone or email including spreadsheet preparation.
  • Arranging/coordinating final delivery.
  • Processing client invoice.
  • Maintain effective relationship with clients, carriers, forwarders, US customs etc.
  • Participate fully with other team members in day to day operation including setting priorities, organizing, scheduling work and problem solving.

Qualifications

  • A Minimum of 7 Years of International Freight Forwarding Experience.
  • Specifically experience in Coordinating of Import Shipments.
  • Experience with Both International and Domestic Freight Forwarding.

  • High School/GED required – Associates degree in Business, Logistics or Supply Chain preferred
  • Minimum of7 years Customer Service or Tracking experience in a freight forwarding environment, especially in International FF
  • Knowledge of U.S. geography and airport codes a plus
  • Customer Focus (knowing the customer business needs and acting accordingly; proactively addresses customer concerns. Assists business partners and customers to achieve their work goals via application of their own skills and knowledge; strives to provide consistent customer satisfaction.)
  • Basic to intermediate PC skills – MS Office
  • Ability effectively prioritize and manage time and tasks
  • All other duties as the business deems necessary
  • Network with corresponding departments to ensure files are billed and posted prior to end of month
  • Continuous learning through required compliance training and certifications of software and/or regulations.
  • Basic math & geography skills
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with a variety of people; can effectively present information in one-on-one settings
